cycle computers (not again!)

i can't believe i'm starting yet another thread, but i could not find an appropriate one to tack on my question...

so, it's simple (sorta) - i need to replace my (now) dead cateye (which i really liked). i'm looking for 3 basic functions, yet i've been unable to find *the* computer for me. i suppose my requirements are not so "simple" then, heh.

specs:
- heart rate monitor
- cadence
- *rear* mount speed sensor
- does NOT have to be wireless (except the hrm of course)

in fact, i would prefer wired! i think i've looked at almost everything, but maybe not. can anyone tell me if something out there exists for me?

thanks.

That computer will likely also track time of day, ride time, current speed, average speed, maximum speed, tripmeter, and odometer. If you also want it to have a heartrate monitor and cadence...it's no longer just a simple computer. It's now a full-featured cyclocomputer!

Lots of stuff from Polar seems dependent upon the front wheel. CatEye doesn't offer all the features you seek in a single model. Have you considered the Garmin Edge 305 computer? All that plus GPS.

Check out the Blackburn Delphi's. I have a garmin edge 305 but if I were buying all over again, the delphi would get a good look.

considered, then opt'd out, mainly due to the battery life....too bad.

found the same thing with blackburn and polar (and others) - all front mounts....

thanks though

yea, they do look interesting, but it seems the speed sensor is on the front.

if all these vendors are moving away from wired (to wireless), why are they taking away features???? grrrr. by the time we are done with these cyclocomputers, i'll be able to check my mail and browse the web, but i'll still be lacking a reliable rear mount speed and cadence sensor!! vendors, are you listening?

ok, i've just gotten somewhere...even though i said wired, that was mostly due to the fact that all the wireless speed sensors i've run into are non rear mounted, but front....until i just found vetta's triple wireless with a REAR mount speed sensor: https://www.vetta.com/Product_Computer_VL110HRT2X.htm

anyone have experience with this model, or vetta in general?

With the range of the VDO cyclometers' speed sensor I am sure you could mount it on the rear wheel. But me thinks you should really look at the Garmin Edge. It has all of what you are asking for, plus the GPS. I have never run the battery out completely on mine. How long are you planning on riding? I have had mine on for near eight hours and it still had a ways to go before the battery would have gone dead.

If you're bike is Flight Deck compatible, I would highly reccomend it.
