For me. Cycling designated caps. I was taunted over those without let up. Comments, like 'when your cap grows up,' it can be worn to a ball game. I finally stopped wearing them. My Banesto cap. I think it is cool. Eventually, they got to understand cycling shorts and jerseys. but, never a cycling cap .
Does a cycling cap have any real function. Guess the brim cuts down on the sun. w/o helmets, don't they fly off all the time?

Bobby pins.

It's not my cycling gear that generates fits--it's the lack of stuff to impress the snooty OCP roadie passing by that gives THEM fits .

Maybe you did not have time to rinse them out and let them dry. ? I did and never did they have to experience my stink. Glad they could co-exist with this trait.

Why do you wear one?

If you have to ask why you wear one, the answer is none.

Maybe your right answer is to get a reaction from others.

My boss used to hang around the hallway at quitting time to laugh when I came out of the rest room after changing for the commute home. He seemed in particular to make fun of my tights and/or shorts, cleated shoes, and bright Pearl Izumi jacket.

What made this funny to me was that he's a golfer stuck in 1973 golf-wear; think plaid pants, yellow pants, green pants, polyester pants, etc. Ever have to go to an important meeting with a guy wearing plaid yellow and green polyester pants?

If I happen to take my good bike to work, it's fun to let the commoners pick it up to feel the weight. Then I show them how the flight Deck computer shows what gear I'm in. Eventually they ask what a bike like that costs and the jaws drop.

If a person chooses to buy a new car that, for whatever reason, costs $3,000 more, nobody will even notice. Tell them that you paid $3,000 for a bike that you still have to pedal and they might go into a ballistic rant. It's fun!

After the criticisms of my co workers, guess it's called reaffirmation. Guess, I wore it because I thought it shaded my eyes, from under my helmet. Yet, does it not reduce the affect of drying by air flowing thru the vents. Maybe , others wear it, in place of a helmet.?
