Wanna get a darker colored helmet. Do they get hotter in sunlight?

    Hi,
I've pretty much had white or light colored helmets all my cycling life (including a ugly powder blue one, ha-ha). I've always shyed away from black or dark blue one b/c I thought they'd get hotter under the sun. Are they?

    Yes, they are.

I rode with a black helmet for a few years, and finally couldn't stand it anymore and switched to yellow. Much better. Only now I'm having a bit of difficulty finding yellow helmets.

Any sort of plastic head cover will be hot, no matter what the color is.

I've used a variety of colors over the year. My theory is that there's a beer cooler between the shell and my head so there shouldn't be much, if any, difference. I don't feel any difference but I've never made any attempt to measure the inside temperature objectively.
