Orange County Craigslist
I have become so disappointed [orange county] craigslist posters lately. I have been looking for a road bike for riding to work on and over the past week I have come up with jack diddily squat. I am not looking for the latest greatest by any means (not even interested in a carbon frame), just a solid, time tested road bike to serve as a better way to get to work and back. Being stuck at a desk all day in a high stress job just to sit in traffic to and from work has started to make me a little
Perhaps it is better in areas that actually have a bike culture, but around where I am it seems that a) there is a short supply of decent older road bikes listed, and b) just about everyone is trying to sell there two year old used (insert name here) road bike for as close to the original retail price as possible. I understand that the resale value on some bikes is fairly high, but today I saw a BikesDirect Dawes Lightning (steel version) with an asking price of $345
(although there were a couple upgrades so that makes it worth it, right?). 2003 Trek 1000 asking for $600, etc, etc, etc. And no, I don't want to pay $200 for an old Univega that looks like it was pulled out of the city dump last week.
Don't get me wrong, there are certainly good deals to be had on craigslist. It just seems that orange county seems to put some higher value on resale of their goods than in other places I have lived.
That's my rant and I'm sticking to it...thanks for reading.
