My future setup

well right now i'm planning on getting mavic 517 xtr hub, truvativ (can't spell) DH, race face ti bottom bracket, Xt components all around, thinking on Xt brakes also,
Stuff i might get also:
easton carbon fiber stem & handle bars
well all this stuff is going onto my cannondale m300 caad 2 frame (I know it's kinda stupid to due that but I dont' have a lot of money to get the caad 4 frame yet, saving up, and i'm using slick tires)
If you guys got any suggestion on my setup, like good or bad comments i'll be willing to listen to it. Also i'm going to purchase all this on performancebike.com with the 20% discount coupon, n see if i can get any additional discount of some sort.

Thats the info.
I doubt that top of the range finishing kit (seatpost/stem/bars) will make you go faster. Nice to have, but you maye be better off putting your money where it counts, in the frame and wheels.
Do a "grammes saved/$" calculation. Compare to a decent mid-range traditional kind of kit.
You may want to add a good headset (Chris King). Check out if there is any advantage to using Ti over steel in the BB. With the splined units, there is very little excess weight.

thanks for the feedback, well right now i want to keep the frame becuase i truly don't have another 600 to upgrade to a very good frame. The wheels I think are the best that I can find for regular brake. I'm under a price budget so it's kinda hard to get everything top of the line. If i am missing anything just tell me, yea i'm looking for headset too but just because i'm not changing the stem and stuff, i don't want to buy one yet, but since i said maybe i'll look into it.

i think the frame is the center and soul, then the fork, the wheel sets, drivetrain, headsets, stem, handlebar, saddle and seatpost...

The wheel recipie you have is good. What really counts is the skill of the wheelbuilder. XT is favoured over XTR for long term durability, such as extended touring. XTR is ultralight racing kit.
This would be a great urban play bike, but the equipment is way too good for a utlitlty bike for getting around town. It would be a major thief magnet.

well their's not a lot of thief in the bay area, except for stupid kids taking off your seat, but as for as being stolen, i'm changing all the quick releases to bolt. I agree the parts are way too good but I intend it to be this way since I like to race with other bikers during my trip. I do agree the frame is the heart n soul of the bike, but truly I don't have the money. So far i think my caad 2 frame is lite and stiff, the only reason why i wanted to change it was because it got small, so I mean I will change it sooner or later just not at the current time. Also thanks for the tip about the Xt and Xtr, I wanted the xtr because they were lite and fast, but i also need it to last, so i guess i can switch to XT, but does anyone know if Chris King hubs are better/as good as the XTR, n reliablity
