Saris Bones Rack Question

I have the 2 bike version and cant seem to get the little ratcheting band to close around the fork and front wheel... my bike never seems to be positioned right... any suggestions?? btw i have a standard road bike

That's the one with three legs, right? I have that one.

Are you talking about the single band on the side? I mean, not the two on top that hold the top tube, the other one.

If so, when I bought mine, they told me it's to go around the seat post tube. (Not the seat post, the tube in the frame.) Do you have the bike backward on the rack?

My Bones has two straps for the top tube and one for the down tube. The front wheel you secure with a bungee you supply.

I bought mine new and I don't remember getting a manual. I see I have the straps all wrong, should not open the trunk with the rack attached, and should quit driving at 80 with the bikes loaded. OOPS.

ha, i need to buy some bungees for my bike, when i get on the highway it gets blown back like a sail...
