my wife is quite self conscious about the looks of "cycle wear",
sorry that some of my gender might not think that is such a bad thing.
at one time she had some saddle discomfort, which was probably associated
with bike fit. we spent a lot of time fiddling with handle bars, stems, seat positions,
and seats. she ended up liking the traditional b-17. when the fit issues got sorted
out, seat discomfort went away. she does wear some touring bike shorts from
J & G cyclewear. they are slightly padded, work well and look like fairly normal
running shorts. i wear the male version of this short also, i find them comfortable.

Terry is the place!

I buy almost all of my cycling clothes from Terry. My daughters (18 & 22) approve!

Alex, I think you need to find somewhere else to play, since you obviously don't know what's appropriate for these forums. Seriously.

REI carries the cycling underwear/briefs for women- I just bought a pair to wear when cycling and stopping a lot to walk around or whatever and getting back on bike. I hate wearing bike shorts if I am going to be stopping for coffee, site seeing or whatever. Mostly I just wear regular clothes - but thought I would give these a try.

In 1894 women began to ride bicycles.

These first brave women were sometimes called Harlots because they shortened their long skirts in order to ride the two wheel machines. Eventually, they even started to wear (gasp!) pants.

Critics warned that the "unfettered liberty of bicycling would intoxicate women to immoral acts" and that the bicycle "promoted immodesty in women".
Women just put their chins up and pedaled on.

In 1896 Susan B Anthony said "bicycling has done more to emancipate women than any single other thing in the world".

shebeest.com is another women's specific company with cycling gear. The female riders on our local group rides love their stuff.
