Boulder bike shops?

Greetings all,

[Cross-post warning!]
Near the end of this month I will be spending two weeks in Boulder, CO for work. I would like to buy a used bike while I am there, ride it, and then ship it back to Chicago when I leave. Are there any bike shops in the area that have a good selection of used bikes? My preference is older steel, and I'm open to mountain or road frames. I'm already watching the local CraigsList.

There's an REI and a Performance in Boulder. I can't remember if they have bicycles, but I know they've got a lot of gear. I got one of my recent helmets at that Performance.

Used is going to be tough. I think you're better off watching the Boulder and Denver CL. At least 100 bikes a day go up on CL Denver, and there are some good deals to be had. But you must act fast, many eyes are doing the same. The best ones come and go within hours. I've bought & sold bikes same day on CL.

If you see something you really like, email the seller and ask them to hold it for you. Who knows, they might. Welcome to one of the most active CL Bikes sites in the country. The front range is bike central.

There is a coop there, can't think of the name right off. Maybe search for "boulder coop" in the CL.

check with any local merchant in boulder, esp bike rental shops. ubikes (university cycle) has been around forever and have terrific service, but there are so many... we have several elitist (what else would you expect in boulder) shops as well that I'm sure would offer advice. excel is in boulder as well. anyone in town, really. play it again sports might even fit the bill, depending. tell you what, check out the boulder bikesmith in the same strip mall as performance (original store I think). it's a rental shop but man they've gone out of their way when I've had off the wall requests that no one else could accommodate on an emergency basis.
