The SBS (Australian TV network) has a promo going for the 2003 TdF that shows a ride in a similar position, but with legs straight out the back. Looks very impressive and very aero. I've been told it's not that unusual in pro racing... might be where this guy picked it up from?

Yaeh, saw something like that too in last year's TdF I think, with the legs straight at the back. Superman position?? I think it hurts too.

Yes that is a "Superman" position. Typically done in BMX with a seat grab to get the trick off, but a MTB is longer so his modification of that trick works. Also can anyone tell what frame and fork he has?

I suppose he has been reading the stuff about how sitting in the saddle too long causes sterility. He's probably just experimenting with ways to avoid that.

It's all fun and games until he hits a pothole (or maybe a wet railroad track?)!

I believe he's in the 2002 Tour de France. If you want to do it, maybe you should do it on a flat road, if you are doing it on the descent, you will be putting yourself in so much danger. You can't do it on the uphill, you won't be able the sustain the speed without pedaling for long.
