It all depends on the make and model. Norco already has thier 2008 Pinnacle and Mountaineer available. Some brands will not be availble until January or February of 2008 though.

Shimano (EDIT: SORA) is going 9 speed. big news, low end STI that will allow use of mountain cassettes for low end gearing. I think I may bite the bullet in 2008 and go with brifters, despite over two decades of barend shifting.

Tiagra has been 9 speed for a long time. Do you mean Sora? BTW Bite the bullet. I love my Tiagra brifters.
