Question about crankset compatibility
Hello,
I'm putting a bike together, and right now have a frame with a Dura-Ace BB that uses the outboard bearings. This BB needs a crankset with an integrated spindle.
My question is, is there any difference between double cranks with respect to 9 spd + 10 spd? I'm setting the bike up as a 9 spd. Can I use a double crank w/ integrated spindle if it came off of a 10 spd bike?
TIA,
Bob

Hey Bob, better question for the mechanics forum. But yes, you can use a 10s crank on a 9s setup. The chainrings are actually just a little thinner and spaced a little closer together c-c, but I really doubt you'd notice the difference while shifting.

Thanks vpiuva... I was looking for a mechanics forum, must have missed it. There are a LOT of forums here! :-)
Thanks again for the heads up. The LBS gave me the same advice this weekend...
