Shaved Legs

Hey guys, what kind of reactions do you non-competitive cyclists get to your shaved legs from girlfriend, wife, friends? After you get to like your smooth legs, do you move on to chest, abs, pits?

As a friend, my reaction would be endless teasing of the shaver

How much difference could a little hair on the legs make? If you aren't competing, why shave? I like hairy legs on guys.

Well, I don't fall into the "non-competitive" category, but I'll answer anyway.

My roadie friends, of course, understand. Fron my mountain biker friends, I often hear a cry of, "What the heck is wrong with you roadies!"

So far as non-cyclists, most of my male friends think it's wierd, and don't understand at all (my father falls into this category too). Of course, they all think I'm wierd anyway, so this is just another strike against me. My female friends are, for the most part, pretty amused by the whole idea. We'll sit around and give shaving tips and have waxing parties. Most agree that girl-talk with a boy is a new experience for all.

And my girlfriend, unlike most of my friends' gf's, thinks it's really, really neat.

So far as shaving goes, I try to keep it to just my legs, and my face when I'm trying to look pretty for someone. I don't have any hair on my chest to begin with, and I did my pits once for a party (I went in drag), and let me tell you, once is enough in any man's life.

I guess I should also specify that I am VERY VERY hairy (it comes barely short of fur) so shaving would be most painful if I even wanted to.

hey lightboy, sounds like you are having fun with it, and your gf sounds very very cool. Do you shave together? Or, does she do you and her you?

I must stipulate that I am uncertain as to the veracity of greatlegs' sincerity in posting this question...however, since the issue is now raised...

I found the adhesive tape held better on my legs (after crashing and dressing the abrasions with gauze and so forth) when the areas underneath the tape was shaved. It also was easier (ouch!) to change a dressing.

Now, I look pretty silly with only my knees shaved...

I don't shave because I'm simply too lazy to do it. Maybe it helps your riding, maybe it doesn't. I just can't be bothered.

Well I guess there is an exception to a gorilla! I bet he is a real animal! We could always buy him one of those flowbee hair cutters, or better yet that Nads stuff from Australia. I have a friend who has a lot of hair, (female), and she uses Nads, some kind of spray on stuff, just about anything she can find to get rid of it. I feel sorry for her.

This gorilla actually lives in Australia. None of that stuff works. That's why this gorilla never smiles. He can't get rid of his hair . He can't find a woman who appreciates hairy gorillas .

The shaved, male, cycling leg is one of the goddess's finest gifts to female cyclists.

Nothing is more beautiful than being in a pack/paceline and watching all those smooth, well-defined calf muscles doing their thing.

Besides, it helps *us* identify *you* off of the bike. How else are we supposed to know who to flirt with???

Can't see the sense of the recreational cyclist shaving. the pro's do it so their legs are easier to massage and abrasions easier to treat.

Beside I need hairy legs so that I look ok in my kilt!

I shave mine!
Why hide a well sculpted leg under all that hair?
My wife likes the look and feel too.
I'm not a racer or pro rider, I just like showing off what I'm earned.
And I don't want to look like a walking hairball.

Pete's right about the bandages sticking to the leg and not the hair.

-- It's easier to apply sunscreen (the skin needs the sunscreen, not the hair).
-- Road rash heals easier and faster.
-- Great legs look even better

Non-Shaver here. My wife digs my hairy legs and wouldn't want me to shave. I know, I've asked her what she prefers.

I understand all the reasons for shaving, but I think the biggest reason is psychological. You "feel" faster without the hair. It's amazing how much insulation from the wind a little arm and leg hair provides.

I would probably shave if I started racing a lot, like every weekend. As a recreational rider and only occasional racer, I don't see the point.

hey poptart, sounds like you really dig those smooth legs. Now picture them with bulging veins running up from heel and branching over the meat of the calf muscle....

What kind of forum are we in?

None of my close friends ride and I fear I would be cast out if I showed up at the beach all shaved down.

I do try to keep my bikini line clean though.

Poptart speaks much truth. Flirting with a non-cyclist could result in a disasterous relationship.

(Actually, my wife is a non-cyclist, so far. So, I am joking, OK???)

Buddy, 'Nads' as far as I can find out, is one of those products that they sell on the morning shows ie- Bert- or similar shows.
You know the segment- they get some fast talkin' person to talk us into buying the product while some poor model sits in front of the camera trying not to scream as some one yanks all the hair off her shin in 'one easy movement'

I have to admit that I shave and don't race, at the moment. I enjoy the look and feel of smooth skin and my wife reacons I have the best legs in our town ( Hey I know she is biased but I need all the compements I can get at my age!)
I had a massage recently and the feeling of having my legs worked on was mmmmmmm!!! No hairs to be worked into tight little knots.

At work I stand out anyway- flouro clothes with lumps here and there so hairless legs aren't too extreme. One woman is jealous because she doesn't shave as often as I do!

I do it because I enjoy it.
