Alfred E Bike - How do they make any money?

Looking for a new cassette, I thought I would check out Alfred E Bike. Did a search on their horrible website (OK I'll live with it) I came up with several possibilities. The problem is that 90% of them were marked that they do not ship. How can a web store make any money if they don't ship?

Were they Shimano products? IIRC it's something to do with the Shimano dealer agreement.

AE Bike is a local bike shop in michigan. Like most LBS, they can sell anything from the QBP catalog and do so online as well as in the shop. Unusually, AE Bike sells out ot the online QBP catalog at a substantial discount which is why they are a popular internet retailer. The catch? Shimano is very protective of the perceived value of their products so they are very careful about who they authorize to sell their products on the internet. They have not given that authorization to AE Bike and if AE Bike were to defy them, they would have their brick and mortar Shimano dealership pulled.

By offering low prices, prompt shipping, and good customer service. I have used them many times.

I have been in their shop a couple of times recently, like yesterday, and both store associates I talked to were very knowledgeable and helpful.

AKA industry price fixing. The more you look into it, the more you realize how dirty the industry is
