Wal-Mart is pushing a diffrent brand now (Corsa ) that has good components too. I was impressed. I'm not sure about the $1898.00 price though.

Actually,it doesn't sound bad. <$2k for a full-carbon bike. It's Italian instead of Chinese,and it sounds like you have to assemble it yourself,so it might be a good one. Did you notice it was under the catagory 'toys'?

I doubt it. They might be bolting parts together in Italy, but I would be shocked if the frame wasn't made in China. The parts are Shimano which, despite what Wal*Mart says, aren't Italian.

Three sizes and no geometry chart makes it a crap-shoot.

I can see why Wal*Mart would be doing this. While the vast majority of bikes are cheapies from Wal*Mart, the majority of the =profits= in bikes are made on the higher end product typically sold in bike shops. If this is an indication that Wal*Mart is getting serious about bikes, BD is going to be toast.

haven't you heard? Italy is filled with Chinese immigrants, legal or not. It's made in Italy... but sometimes by Chinese living there :-D

It is not a bad deal and seems like a decent bike. Carbon frame mostly Ultegra components with 104 for the less important parts. But still not a great deal. You can do considerably better from BD. I just picked up a brand new Bianchi Carbon Lugged 928 with SRAM Rival components and Mavic Kstrium Elite wheels for $1825 plus $50 for shipping on ebay.

My god, what's this world coming to? Is Walmart now going to be running bike shops out of business? Why not, they ran the mom and pops out of business. Hell in another 25 years there won't be a need for any other store, just Walmart.

You can do better at BD today, but if Wal*Mart is serious and has some success there's no way BD can keep up with the world's largest retailer. They don't have the purchasing power.

I don't doubt that Wal*Mart could sell a full carbon bike for under a kilobuck if it suited them to do it.

I know that, just wanted to point to place where people have better knowledge about road bikes for valuable opinions and not just 'Looks like a great deal' from ones that don't know anything about road bikes.

Nothing to worry about. It is expensive even at wal-mart for what it is. Even full ultegra would be expensive. Wally world made a huge mistake. Hard core or even avid cyclist will NOT look to wally for anything that has to do with cycling.

Seriously is this a better deal than a PedalForce for example? Or what about going directly to the CF manufacturer as you can for titanium now. I think Enigma's are beautiful titanium bikes, but I don't know that I would not just go to XACD and tell them I want basically a bike finished to that level.

I think that this will happen to CF too, and the only CF manufacturers that will really get by are those that roll their own and provide noticeable improvements. Sure, there will be people who will continue to buy label CF frames just like they continue to buy chinese made Colnagos, but I think a lot of the more recent CF entries from major brands are not all that different from the cheaper ones direct from the manufacturers.

Walmart can certainly eventually underprice everyone else out there except for the manufacturers themselves, and I doubt they purchase enough CF items to prevent them from marketing other ways. If the CF makers are smart, they won't let themselves get into that position.

Check it out, that Corsa is made in Italy, NOT China.

It used to be that the specialty and niche players didn't have to worry about bumping up against Walmart, but that seems to be changing! This will definately cause the local LBSs grief.

I'm really surprised Wal-Mart is offering that bike. Looks pretty good! BUt, for 2 grand, I'd take a Lemond Versailles from a LBS anyday.

It sure will. When they get brought in with the customer expecting us to make it work and make it fit at a Walmart price.

The picture looks good, but the picture of the Denali looks good as well. The reality of the Denali is a another matter. I will have to wait til one comes in and see what they cheaped out on(My guess is the biggie would be the frame)

Well for a bike with better components BD has a cheaper bike. I don't think anyone can compete with Wallmart in a big way but a company like BD with a much smaller over head who is willing to work with a small margin can sell a cheaper bike. Basically Wallmart doesn't care about small companies, percentage wise they are like a fly hitting a radiator of a Cadillac at 90 mph and trying to stop it. The car doesn't know it is even there.
