Any rodies in East Tenn or West N. Carolina

I'm thinking about doing a ride from Marysville, TN to Robbinsville, NC, which borders the western side of the GSMNP. Has anyone ridden this, and if so, when is the best time of the year to do it?

I've riden the Skyway from Tellico Plains to Robinsville a few times. That way, West to East, is by far the harder way to go. As far as when to go, I think there would be no problem as long as there was no snow up on top. Basically, anytime but the dead of winter.

Thanks, Dave.

So I should do it from East (Robbinsville) to West (Marysville)? How much traffic is there on the road, and should I avoid it at all costs on, say, Falll weekends?
