Brake Upgrades...

Currently I have a stock set of Tektro Brakes on my Motobecanne Record. There is no model number on them but they are black alluminium clinchers with cartridge pads. I found a set of black Shimanno 105's for cheap and was wondering if this would be an upgrade. From what I've read the 105's are pretty good. My Tektro's are squishy...any recommendations or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
thnx!

Just built up a frame and the 105's are efficient and economical to buy. For quality and a sensible price- not much can beat them.
