A couple questions from a cycling noob
When you buy a bike from an LBS, does it usually come with a kickstand? There are two LBS in my town and one of them sells all bikes at MSRP with kickstand installed and another sells at MSRP with a kickstand costing $7-8. Which one is more common?
Also, what's a good way to keep my bike from getting scratched up by bike racks? I know I will try to be careful, but it's inevitable that my bike will rub up against the racks. Thanks |
No kickstands unless you're buying a dept store bike. Lat I saw was $8 or so.
If you place a bike int a rack rear tire first, it won't fall cause the rear wheel does not turn and holds the bike safely in place. There is a rack along the trail I frequent. I get a kick out of watching riders try to place their bikes in, front wheel first. It's a bust up watching them try to figure out why the bike won't stay!:D |
Most of the racks on campus are those upsidedown U types where you kinda have to lean the bike against it, so I can't just put the wheel against it. How should I prevent scratches that way?

Commuting to campus and locking up frequently is going to scratch your bike, you just have to accept it.
