?'s on bicycle rental and shuttle
We are looking to renting bicycles and having a shuttle take us to Washington DC for our C&O Canal trip in September. Does anyone have any recommendations on companies that will rent bicycles and have a shuttle service? Also, does anyone know how wide the trail is? Will a two-wheeled cargo carrier be too wide?

A very comprehensive article about the C&O Canal was recenly in the Washington Post. It included several contacts for info to answer your questions. You can look it up in the search section of the Post's website. The path is generally at least six feet wide, even in the narrowest parts. Also, the League of American Bicyclists, located in DC, has an extensive listing of websites from which you can probably get additional contacts in the area. Sounds like a great trip. Have fun!
