Back on topic with my two cents: I have a Yakima roofrack with the Viper fork mount. Since I have a wagon with factory rails, it was the natural choice. The bikes sit rock solid, although there's some noise above 75mph. In the winter I take the trays off and lash my snowboard to the rails with bungees.
The only con is a slight drop in fuel economy on a long drive and the potentially catastrophic drive into the garage with the bikes on top.

Well, I don't want to make an issue out of it, but personally I don't think it's off-topic. If someone does a search on roof racks, they'll still get the same results.
Anyway, no worries and good luck!
