My hugi 240 rear hub is in for repair right now and I don't have a second wheel set or another bike. Needless to say I'm going through withdrawls right now ... I think the only thing keeping me motivated is these forums. I enjoy reading all of the cycling threads and learn a ton every day.

So how many of you have more than one bike? Are they both road bikes or do you split between Mtn and Road? Is one a lot cheaper than the other or are you addicted 2 fold?

Anyhow, I hope to get the hub back in a week or two. Hopefully it'll be here so I can cycle around the national criterium championships ( https://www.sportsgrandprix.com/index.html ) next weekend. Anyone in Chicago or the surrounding areas gonna be in Downers that weekend?

I have two bikes - and they are both Mtn. I didn't plan it that way, but I replaced the first one when I had ridden it into the ground to the point where it was totally unrideable. Yeah, I could have fixed it up, but after five years I think I was about due for a new one anyway. Then, 12 months later, that "new" one got stolen from work, so I bought another "new" one and fixed the old one up a bit to use as a commuter.

The irony is that I'm currently using my "new" bike as a commuter because it's easier on my recently injured (but slowly recovering) shoulder.

P.S. When I had some time off the bike due to the aforementioned injury, I took some time to plan my itinerary for my tour at the end of this year. Something like that can really do wonders for your motivation to ride again.

I have a mtb, a touring/commuter and a road bike. Ok, I also have an old 1950 something cruiser and an old 10 speed disassembled and stored up in my sister in law’s barn. But that is it!

I have four, My commuter-Specialized Sequoia hybrid, Bianchi San Remo touring bike, Softride Solo 700 road bike, and a Bianchi Grizzly hardtail MTB. So I got one for all occasions The Grizzly cost me more than anything else The Specialized I bout 14 years ago and the other 2 were freebies from people who didn't ride anymore ( I got to tell you I work for a great place) I have just gotten into MTB so I haven't done much single track and I am not sure I will ever get to extreme with it but the more I ride the more confidant I get. I also like to do a lot of touring thats what the San Remo is for it is down right know and since I just got the Softride I have been playing with that the Remo will be my winter project bike. The Softride is just a dream smooth ride and fast I haven't been on it for a couple of weeks but Khuon, TouringwithTI and I are planning a ride for this weekend or the weekend of the 23rd depending on scheduling. SO I will be running it again with new tires and a new tape job on the handle bars. The commuter I ride to work, nothing really special but it is a great work hors sort of like the old Chevy Truck my granddad had it just kept going and going.

I have two bikes, the ones listed in my signature. Which bike I ride depends on my mood that day. But my typical schedule is MTB during the week and road bike on weekends.

Because I have more time on weekends, those precious days are usually reserved for the road bike when I can do longer, uninterrupted rides. The MTB is great for short (90 minute) rides through some juicy singletrack a few times a week.

I have two. My everyday custom built 531c audax/fast tourer, which I use for commuting and touring. Also my 1963 Flying Scot Continental which I use in high summer. Again it's a fastish tourer.

I have two, both road bikes. The first is a REI Novara road bike I bought in '99. I've done 6 or 7 triathlons and commuted nearly daily with it. In '01, I bought a Trek 5200, my serious "go really fast" bike.

I'm also looking for a decent used hardtail MTB to ride trails in Tahoe and maybe pull a Burley.

I have to have 2. Both road. One for bad weather, one for good weather. Keep a supply of extra parts too. You never know where or when you're going to need a part for getting that bike inshape for the commute
