Rode bike to dinner!

As weird as I think some posts are about people getting back into riding a bike (how do you NOT have a bike?) a lot of you will think it's weird that I'm actually going to post about riding a bike to a restaurant. Yup, I understand, but I've never been in a position to actually commute to work (if you could go highway speeds and manage that many miles, you'd arrive soaked in sweat and in the evening you'd get hit by lightning in one of our afternoon storms). Grocery stores have never been close. I have to drive to the next county for my kid's art class. Bagpipe practice is 2 counties over, we just don't have a bike-friendly state or lifestyle.
So that's why I'm so giddy that we all rode to dinner last night. The trail leads to this new condo/store kinda area and there are 3 restaurants we can choose from, we're all looking forward to cooler temperatures and more biking to eat.
My cheap EZ-1 can't change gears (or the chain falls off) but I'm the only one who gets up and doesn't say, "Oh, my butt hurts!" Not anymore! At last, a bike seat that doesn't hurt at all! My 11-year-old wants a recumbent now but my husband says they're too weird and he'll never sell his bike. Now I agree, they sure aren't worth the price, especially my poorly made one, but they sure are comfortable! Maybe I can find him a cheap one on Craig's list or Ebay.

First off; take that EZ-1 back to the bikeshop and have them adjust the shifting... It's capable of shifting very cleanly.

Second; good for you!!! and your family!!!

I met a couple, I'm guessing they were in their 60s, in Wisconsin that frequently bike to their dinning location... I was passing the time on business when they came walking into the restaurant if full kit. I was surprised and impressed!
