Unbelievable stupidity

I ride with a group of roadies each Sunday. We generally cover 60 to 90km and usually have 40 to 50 in the bunch.
During yesterdays ride we we'd covered about 40 km and had a tailwind, going about 35 kmh or so. A driver of a four wheel drive passing the bunch thought it was a good idea to throw a large firecracker into the middle of us,scaring hell out of us - fortunately no falls....but.
As cyclists we're use to abuse from occasional dickheads, but has anyone experienced similar stupidity,

Brett

More times than I could possibly mention. It might be a good idea in future to take down a number and call the cops.

They actually threw a firecracker?

Gosh, what a moron. To think they'd actually have the time to LIGHT it and then THROW it. Our group gets the occasional verbal insult from irate commuters but never something as foolish as that.

It's cool that you have 40 or 50 people to ride with. I'm sure there are groups like that where I live, but I never wake up early enough to join them.

I have been fortunate. The worst I have gotten is taunted or honked at. I think the trick is to keep a low profile by wearing subdued clothing. I think flashy spandex and shaved legs makes you more of a target for those bastards.

Don't worry too much, they will try the same trick some other time and not get the 'cracker out of the vehicle.

I can see it now.

LOL!!!

and definitely get a license plate number. yelling at us is one thing, but a firecracker definitely strays into dangerous territory. I'd betcha the local police would be very interested to know that someone is using explosives in that manner, even if they are only recreational.

cheers,

alex.

I didn't mean to down play the incident, I was just trying to be funny. Get plate numbers and report them.

Scary stuff!

Lucky nobody fell and hurt their bikes... erm, I mean themselves.

:D
Definitely worth of reporting if you got the plate. You have to wonder what goes through the minds of some of these inbreds....
