shipping options from canada to US?

I just bought a frame from a Canadian forum member recently. However, shipping costs a ridiculous amount of money - $90USD, and I am not yet ready to fork over that much money to have it shipped to me. I was wondering if you guys know of any alternative ways of shipping across the border that don't cost as much as FedEx or UPS?

$90USD?! That must be for overnight or two day service. FedEx Ground should only cost about $55-60 Cdn. I shipped a COMPLETE bike in March from Victoria, BC to Florida for $55.98 Cdn.

A frame should fit in a small enough box to be sent via regular mail (Canada Post and USPS).

Make sure you get insurance regardless of the method you choose. UPS does not insure bicycles!

I'm assuming that you (or the other person) don't know how to box a bike. Unless you box it properly, UPS and FedEx will charge you for excessive size.

What you need to do is: Remove pedals, remove wheels, remove rear derailleur, turn forks around completely, turn bars sideways (or even remove them), then wrap the wheels separately, and put the wheels either side of the bike.
