Ride routes for Cambria, CA?

Hi, we are going to that area of the central coast in a few days with our road bikes. I was wondering about nice routes in the area. I did a huge loop back in early 90s from Morro Bay turning inland into the hills just north of there and then coming out on Santa Rosa Cyn. (?) into the back of Cambria, then back south to Morro on Hwy. 1. I think it ended up being like 70 miles--not sure. Rode it with a club from SLO--they were going north on 1 when I join the line. Anyways, I figure there's always up and down Hwy. 1 but would like to get off onto some more rural routes. Safety as far as cars and traffic is a must. We are looking for 20 to 30ish mile routes. We don't mind climbing either. Thanks.

We did a coastal ride in October of 2001. we started at Monterey all the way down CA 1. Great ride. We turned inland at Morro Bay, towards SLO. Instead of going back to Pismo Beach from SLO we liked the inland sun and traveled towards Santa Maria and down the Santa Barbara wine district into Solvang.
Hills on the inland portion were nice and picking up some Santa Barbara wine made for a nice camp fire.
But to get inland from Morro Bay towards SLO, take South Bay Blvd. from Baywood Park to Turi Road, connecting to Los Osos Valley Road and Foothill Road into SLO. Ride from Morro Bay to SLO is like 31 miles. Nice hilly road when you get inland.
South of Santa Maria we traveled Foxen Canyon Road thru the wine country into Solvang. Nice country roads. Not too busy.

Check out the scenery on some of the links! Sounds like a fun bunch to ride with too.

If you drive up the coast just south of the hamlet of Lucia you can take the Nacimiento-Ferguson Rd. I've never done it but it sure sounds like fun. I believe that it is a 2700-ft climb from the ocean to the summit but not terribly steep. The annual Big Sur Ride does this climb
