    Ow! Ow! Ow!

I enterd a 106k Audax ride a while ago & I'm really looking forward to it. Due to circumstances it'll be only the 2nd one I've been able to do this year.
Then yesterday I get a letter confirming my appointment fo the vasectomy that I've been waiting 6 months on NHS. And its the Friday before the Sunday Audax!!

Does anyone know if its OK to ride 106k (4-5 hours) on a racing saddle 2 days after a vasectomy?? or am I just being stupid!?

Some people apparantly have very little discomfort, but I've heard of other chaps sitting on frozen peas for a couple of days.

I'm hoping that with ibuprofin gel, and a forward tilt to the saddle, and a bit more standing up on the pedals, I can get away with it.

I believe that would be really pushing it.

A Doctor will advize you to stay out the saddle for 2 weeks , I think that is erring on the cautious , but 2 days "no way".

If you even start the event I am sure you will soon feel a lot of discomfort.

Personaly I do not believe I would even contemplate an event such as you describe for at least a week after the "snip"

The risk of infection is also pretty high. Give them a rest like the doc says.

I'd give it a miss unless you fancy a part as an extra in the next version of Planet of The Apes.

Judging from friends experiences I'd take it easy for a week...

Please don't do the ride, Stewart. You will certainly injure yourself, probably seriously (if you are able to go any distance). No ride is that important.
You best bite the bullet and bow out. You certainly have the grounds!

OK OK, the captain sensibles of this world win the day. The ride is off.

As you all rightly point out - there are plenty of rides, but I've only got 2 bollocks!

(part of my problem is I've just finished "its not about the bike" wow!)

    Thanks

Didn't Lance say he went on training rides with one testicle swollen like an orange (or something)?

Makes me dizzy to think about it!

(Ok, just a little fun Stew! )
    No worries

A friend of mine went horseback riding too soon after his vasectomy. Got a serious infection that spread to his abdominal cavity and nearly killed him. He spent more than a week in the hospital.

    Stay off your bike !!
