Greatest Cycling frustrations

What are the most frustrating aspects of road cylcling, and the products and magazines availible out there today? What would the ultimate book or magazine be for your training if it was availible?

What frustrates you most about the books and magazines and other products out there for cyclists? What would the ultimate cycling book or magazine have in it?

the same message posted multiple times on BF. Thinly veiled market research on internet forums. Shills.

- while this is a valid question, do you realize that the BF RSS feed appears SPAM'd when this same question is posted five times in various BF forums?

AEO 11-27-07 08:13 AM

man, the internet is the best magazine, has everything.

Extort 11-27-07 08:17 AM

The fact that none of them blatantly GIVE me free stuff!

truman 11-27-07 08:25 AM

More stories and anecdotes. I have a limited need for technobabble.

East Hill 11-27-07 08:35 AM

Could very well be spam, then.

Greg123, do you have an answer to your question?

That depends on the nature of the book or magazine. Generalist reading? Racing-oriented? Touring-oriented? Repairs?

IMO, there's one thing that could be improved dramatically, and that's maintenace & repair instructions and photos. Too many are just poorly written (assumed knowledge, confusing language) and the photos (too few, grainy, obscured by flash) don't help in the least. That's where the Internet or an e-Book featuring video clips and/or animations could help tremendously. The production costs for such pieces can be considerable, however.

The only thing it's NOT good for is reading on the toilet. For that, there are paper magazines.

You're talking about an extremely wide range of subject there when you include books and magazines with "other products".

However, I feel there aren't enough books and magazines devoted to long distance cycling.

Was this a thread for venting our frustrations, or were you going to provide some sort of solution?

If I ride a recumbent on the road, am I allowed to comment on road cylcling?
Very frustrated by the evident inability of raccoons to successfully cross the road.

The women that are pictured in the magazines do not look like the women I see riding!

The problem is there are too few of them.

edzo 11-28-07 08:52 AM

this thread is a photoshop. I can tell by the pixelation, and I have seen a few photoshops in my time.

FAKE

Dude, everything is photoshopped now.

Reality expired back in '97.

Still looking for the ideal seat bag. What a collection of unused and unloved bags I've accumulated.
