That scar under your chin

Something came to mind while shaving today. How many folks have a scar under their chin from bicycling? I got mine when I was biking to school years and years ago.

Only scars I have are on my hands from various knife related misadventures.

About a week before I was supposed to have my senior picture taken, I was out Rollerblading. I wasn't paying attention and I hit a planter at full speed. It was the perfect height and circumference so that when my skates hit it, I bent over at the waste and planted my chin exactly on the far side of it! Fortunately (maybe unfortunately), my photographer was able to get an angle that hid the injury. No scar though, what a bummer. If I'm going to hurt myself bad, I at least want a scar to commemorate it!

Got hit head-on by a full-kit roadie on the MUT. His shoulder hit my chin.

Most of my scars are from skateboarding. My elbows, forearms, knees and shins are all covered in war wounds. The few times I've hit the pavement on my bike just added to the art work.

Oh yea, I've also got some pretty impressive surgery scars. I've been opened stem to stern on several occasions and had all kinds of tubes sticking out through a variety of natural and man-made orifices.

Not under my chin, no. But I had a collision with a truck once, which caused multiple facial fractures. They had to perform surgery to set my eye back in place, as it was sinking through the fractured floor of my orbital, apparently!

So, now i've got a scar which runs under the whole eye, and another one below where the truck hit.

I currently have 4 stiches right on the bottom of my chin from a visit to the ER last Wednesday night - but I was skateboarding. Shattered one of my top-front teeth, too (got a root canal). Fun times! The appropiateness of this thread is quite a coincidence. And hey everyone, this is my first post.

Welcome to BF, but no more mention of skateboarding; we don't like you guys!

(Just kidding; welcome aboard!)

I've had numerous accidents on bikes (been riding over 35 years) but nothing that caused a scar under my chin.

Nice to know I have something to look forward to.

I have a scar under my chin from falling on my bike when I was ~7. I had to get stitches.

Then 2 days before senior pictures (so I was 17?) I was jumping my brother's bike in the street in front of our house and screwed up the landing. I face planted and scraped up both palms, both elbows, both knees, and my nose and lip. My mom was just pulling in to the driveway as I did it and ran from the car screaming "OH MY GOD! You've ruined your face!".

She always hated what a tomboy I was, I think that moment confirmed it for her. I didn't need stitches that time but I do still have a scar on my upper lip.

Only one major spill since I got back into biking and I only got a large bruise from that one.

The scar under the chin came from ice skating. The notch in my mustache(when I have one) came from when my steerer tube broke off the fork crown. Full face plant on to the street. In front of a Dairy Queen. On a hot day. It also gave me two black eyes. I was pissed about the bike.

Sorry rmfnla. I just have to share.

A little off topic, but I do still have the scar just above my lip.

(From another forum)
I've been skateboarding since I was about 10. One of my earliest skateboard related memories was watching the Pepsi Skateboard Team at the State Fair of Texas. I came home, grabbed my board and ran outside to try out some of the tricks I saw them doing. I kicked around for a few minutes and then tried to stomp the tail of the board and flip it up into my hands...

Three stitches later and an upper lip the size of a baseball made my dad wish his brother had never given me that board. He had no idea that this was only the first of many trips to the ER and orthopedist.

My red chin scar reminds me of my mini bike crash! There's gravel in this culdesac... O god... The rum before didn't help either. Don't drink and ride/drive/operate kids!
