Anyone else bring their bike to work?
 

Today is the first gorgeous day weather-wise that I have seen in a week. I knew this moring that I will have no time after work to ride, so I decided to bring the bike to work and ride during lunch.

I work in a nice, suburban sprawl and there are plenty of nice backroads to ride. I also have the luxury of taking a long lunch, so I plan on being out there for at least 90 minutes. I won't get to do any off-road riding, but at least I'll get some quality saddle time. :)

Before you ask...No, I can't bike commute to work. Too many obstacles to overcome to make that happen.

I ALWAYS bring my bike to work. One of the advantages of a van and being able to leave it in the back. I can sneak out for lunch, and now that fall is upon us, I can hit the trails up here in town before it gets dark and before the commute home.

I have a couple of times but NSWC (Naval Surface Warefare Center) Dahlgren is flat as a Flat Iron so it is limited fun. Better to scoot home and play on the hills. U.S. 301 has no shoulders and lots of traffic - I've tried that commute but it is to hair raising.

The closest trails for off-road are a 45 min drive one way, so that's a NO! I also only have an hour for lunch, so any significant road ride is limited. I can commute to work, and do so when my schedule allows (I need a vehicle for outside of office meetings and jobsite visits).

Lately, it's been the wake up at 5:15 a.m. and try to get a good hour or hour and half ride before work.

There is a protected bike rack in our parking garage. Last year, i kept my beater bike at work and rode it in the mornings before work. City riding (where I work) is not as pleasant as country riding (where I live) so I bought a light and this winter I’ll ride at home before going to work.

Yeah......I have an extra fixed gear bike which I have hanging in the back at work. I use it to chase girls and pick up pizza.

My Pacific Toy Store bike stays at work all the time. I could take it to Central Park for some off-road but that would be insane. I could ride it around traffic but that would wear out the brakes and I'd have to change clothes again. Too much of a hassle.

My Boardwalk 6 is always in the trunk.

Since I generally bike commute, I usually have my bike in my cubicle during the day. At lunch I go on rides. Often it's errands, but when I don't have any errands to run I'll ride around downtown, down to Grant Park or up to Piedmont Park. Riding in circles around Oakland Cemetery is nice, too.

I bring mine occasionally and meet up with Zack Jones for an evening ride around the base. Traffic is really light then, as well as everyone seems friendlier to cyclists on base. We get in a 18-miler usually.

A company I used to work for had excellent bike cages outside right beside security so I used to take my bike there and would ride at lunch since it was far too nasty a commute to get there. It was a good stress reliever for me to be able to ride and I always enjoyed getting an hour on the bike instead of being locked up inside.

Unfortunately we had strict schedules we had to adhere to so I could only get in an hour which still meant getting up early or racing the sunset home to get in an extra hour or so. Why can't we all just be procyclists and ride all day?

I am very fortunate in that my place of employment has shower and locker room facilities. Plus they have the space and the security that I can actually leave my bike at work and still feel very secure.

The hours are flexible too ... I usually start at 5AM and leave after 4PM, they don't mind if I take a little longer lunch. Therefore I ride almost daily, trying to get in at least 15 miles and as much as 20.

I'm one of the lucky ones. I bike commute 10 miles each way and keep my bike in my office.

well, i keep my bike at work.. I work 16hrs a day.. I have a 2hr break, that's the time I go out biking then return back to work..

I have a special compartment here(i'm at work) just for bikes.. Or, I just let the bike sit on a corner..

And the customers seem to like the (my)bikes that are in the shop.. I run a computer store, and I guess I use, unintetionally, the bikes to attract the attention, in an odd way.. ;)

And sales are up.. I think its working..:)

I keep my mtn bike in the back of my hatch back, and I will ride whenever I can. I have a very nice trail starting only about 1 mile away from my work (I could go 50 miles on it if I wanted), and sometimes I will ride for an hour or more on my way home, or if I have an evening meeting (this week) I will ride between getting off and the meeting.

If I wait to ride until I get home (about 40 minute drive), it seems there are always a bundle of things to do when I get home that detract me from riding (mail, phone calls, wife wanting to go to store, etc.) Also, I have more light left as the days grow shorter - by the time I get home it will be getting dark.

I cycled from work today in rain.

I used to keep my bike inside the office building.

But now I leave it at the guarded parking lot. The price is as for the motorbike. It is still 3 times less than for the car.

I like it more than bringin it iside. A bit less messy. I mean I am like any normal commuter leave my transporter on the parking lot.

I bike commute every day and keep my bike in my cubicle. About three times a week I ride with co-workers during lunch. Most of them don't bike commute.

Since I usually ride commuter rail 11mi/18km and jog 4.6mi/7.4km to work, I have been keeping one bicycle (the PKN-10) under an indoor stairwell at the office, in case I need to escape for a quick errand.

Most of my "work" is at a local arts center, where I have a room devoted largely to my classes. I just bring the bike in, and let anyone else who has ridden in use my room to park their bike as well.

Me and some co-workers ride our bikes to work almost every day it makes the day a lot better at work cause it wakes you up I love it. Unfortunately I have yet to get a road bike so I ride a mountain bike which is rough but I guess I can say I get a good workout.

I ride in to school everyday :)
