From these cycling photos posted in the San Diego Union. Might they be Bike Forum members doing the Palomar Challenge. Descending 4000 feet in the rain. Don't think it would be me. Think I'd find a hotel.
The newspaper captoin below the photo to the right said , San Diego cyclist wrings out their cycling gloves after ascending Palomar Mountain.

Safer than surfing/swimming in "The Red Triangle" where the Great White's hang out.

Sci Fi. Was not one of the reasons Al Capone didn't want to escape Alcatraz? The Great Whites liked the tastes of convicts? That is what I thought we've been told. That surfer dude near the bridge's pyling. A change of current might ruin his board.?

Actually it's the currents. You need to be a very strong swimmer.

Correct. If one looks at the current and tide flow...:

Where they are surfing is relatively safe regardless of the time of day or night. Almost anywhere else you would most likely be dragged into the Pacific. That being said, there are organized swims to Alcatraz ( https://www.waterworldswim.com/events_alcatrazxings.asp ).

Wonder if the pics were taken in the 5 minutes of rain we had here?....I live about 2 hours north of SD and not one drop all day. Poured last night/3 am'ish but nothing this morn after 6 am. I volunteered to work today cause of the forecast. Was supposed to pour from Thurs nite to Monday nonstop. I looked outside while at work and was bummed cause it was fairly dry, not a drop. I went home and figured I'd skip a ride cause I knew the second I headed out it would start pouring. It didn't! I feel cheated!

I see threads about California taking a pounding and news reports of the BIG STORM. I look out the window and ask,"WHERE?". I think the news station is looking for a story, any story to blow up! I've only seen about 3 hours of rain in the last 3 days.
