Every lane is a bike lane
They are also a great place to confine rednecks (now if we could just get them to stay there )

There was a guy last summer who robbed a Taco Bell on a bike, from the drive-thru window, no less!

I did actually find a serious use for one a few weeks back. It frightened off a dog that was chasing me. I wasn't totally confident in my ability to outrun that mongrel

Chris L, didn't you know? Frame mounted pumps are great for whacking mongrels! They definately weren't for inflating tires! I carry an old top-tube mounted zefal that I keep my hands on during one particular section of my ride. If the gate is open, out comes a rather large and nasty cannine. One good WHAAP and he leaves me alone!
BTW, I love dogs, just not when they're chasing me and trying to bite my arse off!

Same here. Pesky drive throughs, I walked through on once, but that didn't work either. I suppose Sonics drive-in would work, there all you have to do is push a little button!

I generally don't eat at those sort of places anyway. I think if it really came down to it, one could ride better on an empty stomach than on McDonalds.

I tried paying my water bill at the "drive through" window of the county water department. They told me I had to come inside. So I locked my bike, unstrapped my gear, took off my helmet, put on deodorant and came inside.
Funny thing is, the next time, I brought my bike inside with me, no complaints (wha?), and each time after that. Comments were, "I see you guys going down College Ave. all the time!"
Ach! :irritated

I went through one once to get a shake for wee Dougal who was sitting on the back of the bike.
No problem. In fact the girl serving seemed quite delighted by the whole thing.
