Adidas Eyewear + Rx Inserts
 

Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a pair of sunglasses for all around everyday use and was looking at these Adidas models....

Gazelle ClimaCool Pro

Has anyone had any experience with these or any other Adidas eyewear products (with prescription inserts)?

Also, does anyone know how much they retail for, in Australia ($)?

If you use any other types of "prescription sunglasses" please post your opinions....

I was also wondering if anyone knows where in Australia I can buy SwissEye glasses?

Basically... anything that has a polarized lens and doesn't shatter into your eyeball is a good set of glasses.... and comfort of coarse.

I have been wearing Gazelles for a year using dark lenses for bicycle riding in bright sunshine and yellow for overcast days and night riding. A lady at am optical shop recommended them because her former pro cycling brother uses them.

I have the regular Gazelle's and I do get fogging. I wish I had gotten the Climacool version to see if the additional ventilation would cure that. If you are just using them for everyday use fogging should not be any more problem than any other pair of glasses. I am going to try some scuba diving goggles defogger as soon as I am able to get to a store that has a brand that says it is safe for plastic lenses.

Prescription sunglasses is a losing proposition. If you want natural full field and you can wear them - contacts is your best solution. Bonus is you can wear any sort of sunglasses on top of them.

I was going to get a pair of these or like these in a different brand.
Make sure that you double check your perscription will fit in the inserts as they are limited.
Also make sure you try them on with the inserts...inserted because it means they sit closer to your eyes so your eyelashes may rub against the lens.

For Australia, from memory you are looking at $300-400 for the frame, $100 for insert frame, and whatever extra for the presription lenses.

Personally I went with the contact with normal sunnies over the top becuase
A - The inserts and glasses were freakin' expensive
B - More Freedom wearing contacts (even though I don't really like wearing them)
C - There wasn't a guarantee that my script would fit in, becuase I am quite blind.
D - The Adidas ones and all the ones that take the insert that I could find, were really ugly and didn't suit me.

I found this site the other day and am considering getting a pair for myself. They're much less expensive than Adidas or Oakley. Only available online.

Reply to question about anti-fog properties
In our Bullet Ant Goggle and Desert Locust Goggle the lenses are coated with Revision’s “OCUMAX™”- which is a high performance, flexible poly-hardcoat with permanent anti-fog and anti-static properties built in so that the lenses remain fog-free even after repeated cleaning, and in the most extreme conditions.

The Sawfly Eyewear lenses have a hard coat for scratch resistance but are not sealed in the same way the Bullet Ant and Desert Locust are, however there is plenty of airflow and ventilation, which keeps them fog-free.

Their recommendation for cycling
We do have a model that would fit your needs, I would recommend the Sawfly Eyewear System which has three interchangeable lenses clear, smoke, and high-contrast yellow.

We also have an Rx Carrier that clips right into the eyewear.
