Best place to place a U-Lock mount?

I have a Trek 7.2 FX and am trying to decide where to put the U-Lock mount. I have both a U-lock and cord, so I'm hoping to find a good spot where the U-lock will fit with the cord wrapped up around it (hope that description makes sense). Might just give up on that idea and carry the cord a different way, but any suggestions or personal favorites?

Lock slides into a bracket on the rack. I use a bungee to secure the lock in the bracket.

$30 with free shipping to local REI store: http://www.rei.com/REI-Outlet/product/760822, includes a lock too

Awesome. Can I just swing by the local REI and grab that or is it an internet only deal?

It's from REI-Outlet which is internet only. They take about a week or two to get to the store once you order - them's the breaks I guess.

I'll warn you now though, the quick release lever is apt to break if you torque it down too hard. It's really kinda junky. I tighten the lever down just enough so it doesn't rattle around and unscrew itself. To really hold down the lock and prevent it from rattling about, I use mini bungee cords (20 for $3 from walmart, really handy little things too!)

Anymore questions, let me know.

The rack comes with a rear red reflector, a rear light mount thinger (visible in pics), and a rear mount thing with holes spread far apart (maybe to mount a xenon strobe?). The rear light mount you see in the pics is a piece of plastic screwed to the QR lever with a slot to clip a light onto. Good, highly visible position for a light.

if the dimensions are similar I'd say yes, but I doubt it'd fit a krypto NY lock.
I mounted it on my handle bar.

No, locks aren't all the same size.

Here's my solution on a 7.2FX. I had it facing forward at first, but it got in the way of my cables when I lowered my bars. Also balances out the bike real nice when I'm carrying it up stairs with panniers on the back. The bungee keeps the lock from rattling, since the lock part is inside a movable casing.

Is there a quick release trunk that fits onto this Topeak Rack and Lock?

Here's what I did with my 7.2FX (high res image):

http://aycu28.webshots.com/image/452...6687137_rs.jpg

I got Trek Ali Baba Mini U-lock w/cable made by Kryptonite. The mount for it puts the u-lock parallel to the bike but offset towards the side of it and not inside the actual triangle. It's secure and doesn't get in the way at all.

Oh and my friend uses the Twofish Lockblock and mounts his full size U-lock on the handlebar/stem. It works pretty well as long as you don't have anything else mounted on your handlebar.
