Build a cycling team using your co-workers.

Think about the people you work with/for and build a cycling team from them. Include yourself too if you have the ability to race.

This can be either a mountain bike team or a road team.

To protect their privacy do not list names. Just say you have 2 or 3 people from such & such dept. etc. Use what you know about them. Such as do they smoke or not, are they overweight? Do you know if they already engage in a physical activity, such as running. Heck maybe some of you have co-workers that are cyclists themselves.

I'll start:

Office personal: 1 person.

Shop personal: 5 people.

I did not include myself as I'm overweight.

No habla espanol. All of the bike commuters at work are Latinos and can ride forever. Otherwise, we would suck.

You'd have to pry the microwave popcorn and fried chicken out of my coworkers' hands so they could grab onto handlebars. Then, if you were to position them at the top of a hill, put them on bikes, and give them a shove, some of them would make it all the way down without running out of breath.

Perhaps strangely for an accounting firm, we actually have a couple that might have a sufficient fitness base to have a go. However, I could only include myself if the course profile was definitively upward!

Most of my employees stopped riding bikes last week. My State just issued all of them drivers' licenses!

There's at least 10 guys at work here that I couldn't dream of keeping up with. Some of them already race on a regular basis.

We've got a group of 4 regulars (myself included) that ride every lunchtime, plus another couple that bike commute and join us occasionally on our lunchtime rides.

My workplace is full of old guys who "used to do" lots of running, cycling and sporting activites, presumably before they all became fat golfers instead.

The general view around here is that anyone who runs or cycles to work is slightly demented to start with. We generally get grouped with the folks in the Cricket League. Yes, we have one mostly made up of people from former British colonies and the Caribean Islands.

It would have to be an all male team. All the female employees either smoke or would need an attachment to hold the pizza box on the handle bars.

Now we do have some potential in the mens leagues. Assuming I am the Team Capt. we have a few folks that could make it as domestics. I think including myself we could come up with 5 riders to dominate the worlds!

Now if the prize purse was large enough I feel confident that we would be expanding our employee base to take on some good solid riders.

That is not funny.

One of my coworkers inherited a bike from her boyfriend, and another is going to buy his first bike, assuming we do not get laid off. I guess three people qualifies as a team.

Geez......I'm surprized you used the term 'illegal immigrants' instead of 'undocumented immigrants'........at least you were almost right. The CORRECT term should be 'ILLEGAL ALIENS'. I think I know how you'll be voting next Tuesday if you didn't find my original post funny.
I'll tell you how I voted during the century ride in San Diego next month.

Your employees? So you oppose illegal immigration, just not enough to keep from exploiting it as a source of cheap labor? Oh yeah, it's all Davis' fault.

________

(Back on topic.)

We've got some decent softball and soccer players around here but I'm the only one who rides a bike seriously.

Opps!.......you caught me red handed there...... Only if the State levied heavy fines on people like me, illegal immigration will virtually stop overnight, gauranteed.

Never said anything about fines. Legal sanctions ought not be necessary for such an obviously politically aware employer. I'd think a sense of civic duty would require you to only hire citizens or documented aliens. You know, give that job to a real Californian, not some foreigner.

And still off topic, I wouldn't use "employer of undocumented workers." The correct term would be "illegal employer" if you're employing persons not legally here, right?

I already voted. My candidate will not win, as he is in a far third place in most polls. I am anxious to hear next month who (or is it whom?) you voted for. This is way off topic, and I apologize.

I entirely support the idea of company-sponsored cycling teams (or any sport teams, for that matter). I think it would increase camaraderie, could boost morale, and ultimately, boost productivity. But what do I know about management; I did not go to business school.

We use to have 6 or 7 guys who rode on a regular basis.
Now we are down to 2. Seems the other guys thought it
wasn't social enough for them. So now they are on the
golf course and country club. And they are all over weight
now.
