I took some time off the bike in October. I'm back on and feeling great. Last year I started at the beginning of December after a 4-year break. Now I'm starting in November. I just can justify giving up the strong base that I have spent the last ten months rebuilding. Next year is going to be fun. I believe I will be a force to be reckoned with. LOL

Every lane is a bike lane
Well, it's coming into summer here right now -- although that's the time I'd be most likely to quit riding, given my general dislike of heat stroke and skin cancer. Ironically, in just 38 days time, I'm going to experience about the coldest riding conditions I've experienced in years, including a possibility of summer snow!

I'll probably quit sometime in the afternoon on December 31st. Start up again on New Year's Day. (Caveat: Rain may cancel).

Not at all, I'm continuing to commute all winter, plus I'll be doing indoor training rides on Sunday nights at the local track.

I quit when it's below 35° and the wind is over 10. This usually means December through February are indoor trainer and weight training months.

i’ve already quit, albeit temporarily (for ramadan)... i wanted to ride to work this morning, but my wife advised against it cause of my fasting... i don’t think i'll be getting any riding done until ramadan's done. when the month’s over, i hope it isn’t too cold so that i can at least get to ride before the cold/snow hits. i’m still contemplating on giving winter riding a try though... i just i’ll just have to wait and see how bad this year’s winter’s going to be up in toronto.

First winter back on the bike, don't know if I'll do the Snow & Ice, but don't mind the cold or wet. Only time will tell, and if all else fails the Fluid 2 is ready to go. I have no intentions of loosing what I had too much fun gaining or for that matter re-gaining what I had so much fun loosing, the past few months!

I ride year around as much as I can. About the only time I don't ride is if it's raining below 40F, although, I think I might try it a few times this year to see if I can adapt. If it's snowing I'll ride my mountain bike, but only if the roads/paths are passable. I tried riding in 8 inchs of snow last year and only got about 1/4 of a mile before I turned back. Last winter, only big snow stopped me from riding outdoors, and I just did the trainer on those days. Basically, if it's not raining or snowing, I go ride.
This area (DC area) is pretty good for riding year around. I think I was only off the bike and on the trainer for about 3 weeks last winter due to a couple big snows we got, which were definitely out of the ordinary. I'm hoping this winter is a bit more mild.

I used to quit if it was below freezing, or if roads were wet, snow covered or dark (kind of a lot of rules). This year, I'm going to try to keep it up all winter! The posts on this thread are a great inspiration. Thanks!
