Bicycling Mag
It does seem that Bicycling has fallen away to advertizing glitz and you have to wonder if any of the writers actually ride. I can peruse it in 10" and find very little of interest. My subscription has lapsed because I find it does not relate to why I ride and I don't want the "latest and greatest" high end stuff that they are trying to push. A few years ago it was a different mag. Much more relevant.
I enjoy Adventure Cycling mag and some of the books like "The Immortal Class" and "Metal Cowboy".

What ticks me off about Bicycling and other mags is that they don't have to replay the same old stories time and time again. They seem to be stuck in their little niche of cycling and don't want to come out. All the mountain bike magazines seen to only feature downhill and freeriding, I challange any one here to find a hardtail cross country bike between the pages of any of these mags now. Bicycling seems to have gone half road and half mountain, but they don't really offer and real information about either. They could capture a much wider readership if they featured things that real cyclist take interest in such as singlespeed moutain bikes, fixed gear bikes, maybe some recumbents, tandem articles, articles on maintence and how to build wheels and such, and indepth articles on the technical aspects of modern bikes. Dirt Rag is the only thing that even comes close to this, but they don't feature too much road cycling.
