I have a new riding partner
A week ago my Ex called me and asked me to help him pick out a road bike. He finally made the decision to kick his butt into gear and start taking better care of himself. Since I was off yesterday, we ran fitness related errands (running shoes and new head phones for mp3 player for his gym workouts) and headed to a new bike shop I have been meaning to visit. He told me I could do all the research and pick out the bikes I felt he should test ride.
The shop we headed to (Big Wheel Bikes, Arlington, VA) is small, but the guys there are as cool as the mechanic who helped me out with Sweetness I. After talking to the guy there we decided on a 56 cm Fuji Ace. The Ex and I agreed he should get an entry level bike since he wasn't sure about making a huge investment in something he was nervous about in the first place.
Well on the test ride he got the sweetest grin on his face. He handled the bike really well, and is more comfortable in the drops than he is on the hoods (I am insanely jealous). He decided to buy the bike, and since it was scratched he got a break on all the necessories (necessary accessories). He got a new seat, shoes, pedals with toe clips, bag, allen tool, patch kit, spare tube, tire levers and mini pump. While we were doing all this I was talking with the shop guy and he said he should hire me since I know more and I am more obsessed with cycling than the guys he currently has. He even let me have the water bottle I was going to buy for free ( I buy a water bottle from every shop I visit). We even discussed upgrading components on my bike and the new purchase.
Today will be the inaugural ride, we are going to test out a route my Ex can use to commute to work. I am pretty excited about all this, he is even talking about doing rides I suggested we do when we were together. Hopefully he will be bitten by the cycling bug like I was. So I now have a new cycling partner and finally found an LBS that I really like, yippeee.

It sounds like you had a great time and still have feelings for your Ex. Who knows, maybe you'll end up on a second tour
