Transporting child bike trailer- urgent advise needed

I have just purchased a Chariot Captain XL trailer. Chariot says not to transport it on the roof of a car as the fabric would shred, even if folded and in a transport bag . As we have a Renault Clio taking it IN the car is not an option. Does anyone have any experience of transporting this trailer or advise on car roof boxes which would fit it? If I need a roof box I need to sort it very soon...Grateful for any suggestions!

Holy crap, that trailer costs almost twice as much as my bike!

Chariot says not to transport it on the roof of a car as the fabric would shred, even if folded and in a transport bag.
That doesn't seem right. How is the fabric going to shred when for all the trailer knows (when inside the bag) it could be sitting in your living room. On the other hand, I can understanding being extra cautious with such an expensive piece of equipment. I don't see any pictures of it folded up, so I'm not sure how small it gets, but it seems like it should fit in something like this.

I'm assuming you are in Europe/Asia since Renault is not available here in the US. I used a "Thule Excursion ". to carry my bike trailer.

Bicycle bags are tough enough to withstand wind force on top of a car. I have carried my bike in a bag on top of a car, I see no reason why a trailer would not survive

Thanks for the advise. I phoned the bike shop, where I got it, back and they basically said, although not straight out, that they thought it was the manufacturer covering themselves. The bag is very sturdy so it should be ok. The price of the trailer was the thing which made me cautious.
I looked for ages for a trailer and this one ticked all the boxes for safety, durability, space and suspension. It is only available in Europe which is where I am- Scotland. Just wanted peoples opinions, thanks again!
