Life Lessons
Ok today is my 1 year anniversary as a roadie. A year ago I brought home Sweetness I and began a love affair that I hope will never end. In this year I have made the acquaintance of some really cool people and learned a lot about myself. So in honor of my anniversary I want to know what life lessons you have learned from cycling. I'll start:
1. Hills are my friend.
2. Pacing yourself just might mean you achieve your goal a bit faster.
3. Challenging myself allows me to reach my highest potential.
4. There really isn't anything I can't do if I set my mind to it, I just might not be able to do it well.
5. Taking chances doesn't always have to be a bad thing.
Ok your turn , what fun lessons do I get to learn in year 2?

1. I have embraced hills and have gained a sick love affair for them.
2. I am not as young as my behavior dictates.
3. I am not as good of a rider as my brain leads me to believe.
4. I have admitted I have a bike addiction.
5. I am not in the shape I need to be nor want to be.
6. I found this kewl web site and I like it.
Oh, happy anniversary to you cyclochica.....

Happy Anniversary Cyclochica.
* A great way to get to know a person is on a bike ride.
* The world is a much better place with bikes and the people who ride them.
* I can't ever seem to ride enough.

Congratulations on your 1 yr anniversary. As a newbie to the roadie world, I am looking forward to seeing just what I can accomplish in the next year and hope that I have the same level of enthusiasm for it as you have shown me.
What I hope to learn in the next year:
1. That hills aren’t meant only to be driven up by cars.
2. The 8 miles to work is an easy commute by bicycle which I can
do “regularly”
3. I can ride a road bike in NoVa with out body amour
4. I can get into the shape I always wanted to
5. I am looking forward to the lessons of year 2
Thanks for introducing me to the roadie world Cyclo, I think we will have many more great rides.

OK, life lessons:
1) Money flows unidirectionally from the bank account to the lbs.
2) Gravity loves me; it pulls on me always, slowing my climbs and accelerating my descents. Wind, however, despises me, pushing against me when I approach it and pushing me away when I turn my back.
3) The two most important pieces of information about any day are the weather forecast and the hours of daylight.
4) A zen-like trance can be achieved on two wheels at 25 mph, but it's not often a good idea.
5) If you worry how you look in summer cycling clothing, you'll never ride during the winter.
6) Cyclists are the only people who can purchase something called butt'r without causing general raising of eyebrows.

1.Suffering is only temporary,
2.pain is only temporary,
3.the pleasure of the ride goes on even after the ride is over,
4.the brain of a 20 yr.old is trapped in the body of a 50 yr.old.
5.to those outside the world of cycling, you'll never be able to justify why you spend so much $ on your hobby.

1. I never thought I'd totally understand the quote, "'It doesn't get any easier, you just get faster."
2. Or, the old saying about having to get back in the saddle. This was after my second major accident in ten years.
happy anniv. chica! and the same to everyone else out there!

1. Going fast is a relative proposition. Your slow may be my fast, but it is still MY fast, and I love it.
2. My first 15 mile ride was a great big WOW!! Now 15 miles is sort of my warmup. That is a neat occurence.
3. People enjoy treating we older folks as if we are OLD! It is so much fun to quietly inform the smoking neighbor lady (who somehow has the impression that we are both feeble simply because we are in our 60's) that I just finished a 60 mile ride and would she like to join me for the next ride!
4. Biking is a great way to get back in shape after a year of rather severe medical situations. Isn't it great to really enjoy your exercising, rather than dreading it?
And, most of all, have FUN when you ride!

Well you guys have just made me so happy. All the lessons have been great to read. I didn't get to celebrate until today, I took alkemnation out for his second ride on his new bike. He held up real well on our 21 mile ride, and took those hills like a champ. I'm going to have to step it up, because it won't be long before he catches up with me. Thanks to everyone that responded.

Happy anniversary, Cyclochica.
To the lessons above add:
Endorphins are my friends.
"Good ride" is redundant. "Bad ride" is a contradiction in terms.

God doesn't take from one the time spent riding.
I have always heard this about fishing - I like to think it applies to cycling as well.

1. Patience, not anger, is the best response to less than appropriate behaviour from people in vehicles.
2.Mountains are fun. Bigger mountains are even more fun.
3.Riding in the rain feels good.
4.Cycling shorts with a pad that is torn down the seam isn't easy on the man-berries.
5.I like my legs shaved.
6.I enjoy burning 3,000 calories in a single workout.
7. When someone wants to know about me, I make three statements for sure: about my faith in Christ, that I'm learning to be a nurse, and that I am a road cyclist.
8. Centuries are awesome.
9. I won't take a trip without the bike coming along too.
