recommend a bike for me

i want kind of an all around commuter / weather bike...this is kind of what i want..
http://www.rei.com/product/744791

i like that you can lock out the shocks....i would also like something with a wide tire clearance, so i can put on studded tires for the icy winters..also i would liek to keep it around the 500 dolllar price range...so what do you guys recommend?

I recommend getting something other that front fork.

If it's a straight up commuter you don't really need suspension.

IMO, YMMV.

+1

Agree with keeping it rigid for commuting. A hybrid is great for commuting, but if you really want some cush and tire clearance look at a mountain bike. Large tires around 50psi will give you a lot of cushion and allow for greater traction in snow at a lower psi.
