Pinarello?

I am a keen cyclist but in recent times my old Raleigh has just sat collecting dust and cob webs. I recently went to a shop in chester and fell in love with the Pinarello Galileo. I have little experience in buying such pedigrees and was looking for advice. Am i wasting my doh on such machines and should i be going for a Specialized or some other make? Will i notice a difference in ride or is it all about having the name?

Cheers

I was looking at buying the Pinarello Prince w/record but wanted to ride a few others before spending over $4000. I rode Bianchis, Kleins, Cannondales, Treks, Lemonds and many others. The first time I rode the Prince I was amazed how well it felt. I didnt know if it was just the bike or the price tag. The more I rode others, like the Klein Quantum Pro, the less I was amazed at the Prince. And I am a big proponent of Italian craftsmanship, bikes, cars, etc.

Dont get me wrong, the Prince was a great bike but I was thinking was it $2000 better of a ride than the Klein or better than the Opera or Galileo? If I had the money buring a hole in my pocket, I would have purchased the Prince.

So I think it boils down to personal preference and affordability. Do YOU think it rides better and can you afford it? But having an Italian bike in the stable is nothing to frown about!

Dood, you gotta be kidding! Pinarellos are nothing to frown down on!

;)

Seriously, if I had the money, I'd get a Pinarello. I haven't ridden one (yet), but the people I know that ride seriously speak highly of the brand.

Check out eBay. They have some nicely discounted new Prince framesets in various sizes. If I wanted a Pinarello I would certainly look at these.
