Luxury Designer Bicycles in Australia?
Hi,
My name is Jessica. I am a student from Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, about to write my Bachelor Thesis.
I have chosen the Danish bicycle Biomega (https://www.biomega.dk/) and I have some questions.
Biomega produces expensive luxury bicycles (designer bikes) used for biking in the city.
Do you know any brands in Australia which include luxury bicycles? (not racing bicycles)
It does not matter weather they are Australian manufactured or imported.
In other words, I need to find out who Biomega's competitors are on the Australian market.
I really hope I will receive some answers (unfortunately I am sitting i Denmark, so I can't ask people on the streets)
Kind regards
Jessica Simonsen

I don't know the Australian market very well, but a few things come to mind as there aren't very many makers of bikes such as the Biomega. They seem to be more of a gimmicky 'lifestyle accessory' for yuppies rather than a cycle for serious transport.
Check if the new Civia line of bikes are being imported into Australia. I know that the parent company imports their Surly line of cycles into Australia. https://www.civiacycles.com/civiaproduct.php
Aside from Civia the only other competitors I can think of are custom makers of frames.

Hello Jessica, I am going to move this to General Cycling, in the hopes that some of the Australians here will find this, and respond.
Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

No, I don't know of anyone importing Biomega bikes, let alone "luxury" versions. From what little of have read, the Biomega website is nasty to get into (in fact impossible if you don't want intrusive use of computer controls), it seems Biomega would have trouble servicing its warranties in Australia, and shaft-driven bikes just don't have much appeal here except as gimmicks.
As to other bikes in the European style, supply to the industry here is basically controlled by American companies. There are other factors that go against importing European bikes, but I won't deal with them here.

I have seen Skeppshult bikes available here, and at least one of my local bike shops sells this Cannondale bike: https://gb.cannondale.com/bikes/07/ce...odel-7SS1.html
I'm not sure if that is what you had in mind by luxury city bikes, but this is the closest I have seen so far.
