How long to get a bike from Cannondale?
I ordered a new bike from my LBS two weeks ago with the expectation of delivery within two weeks. I called on Friday, and they were unable to obtain tracking information from Cannondale.
Does anyone have an idea how it takes for delivery from the manufacture? It's gorgeous outside and I can't wait to go on a ride!

Probably not. I've never worked with Cannondale but here's what's been my experience with other manufacturers.
If they have your bike in the warehouse, you're usually only talking a couple of days. A couple of things can hold that up. If your retailer is on credit hold with Cannondale, they'll have to find a way to work it out before the bike will ship. Unless the credit situation is real bad the manufacturer will generally make an exception for a sold bike. Another possibility has to do with shipping costs. Sometimes retailers will want to put together a 15 bike shipment, or whatever the threshold is, so the manufacturere will pay the shipping costs.
If the manufacturer doesn't have your bike in the warehouse, it can take any amount of time. It depends on where in the manufacturing and distribution chain your bike happens to be. When it gets to about this time of year the model changeover can be a problem too. On run-of-the-mill bikes manufacturers will usually run out next year's models whenever they can no longer ship a full size run of the current models. Cutting edge models, however, might not be able to be released until after the new components are announced at the Interbike trade show.

I ordered a bike on a Tuesday. It arrived Wednesday of the following week, in Los Angeles. It was a Cannondale.
If a dealer is unable to receive tracking information it means one of three things:
1) They didn't try, or failed to follow through.
2) They called too late in the day (the other coast goes to bed earlier).
3) The bike hasn't shipped yet.
If the bike has shipped, tracking information can be obtained, provided the manufacturer isn't closed for the day, or the person in shipping hasn't gone home. I'm not speaking with specific experience in dealing directly with Cannondale, but rather as someone who has been in retail (sales, buyer/merchant, store manager) for nearly two decades; I know how these things work.
Keep in mind, the person you talk to at the LBS probably isn't the one calling the dealer to track the order. Most dealers probably have one person who deals with the vendor, or maybe a buyer and an assistant. A breakdown in communications or follow-through can occur with the salesman, or with the buyer, or whoever it is who deals directly with the manufacturer. If it's a big enough company, the salesperson can't even talk to the buyer (or assistant buyer), but instead has to go through his store manager. Each level between the sales associate and the vendor is a stage where the request for tracking can be forgotten. This is where small shops excel, and where big corporations really suck. If you were to ask Wal**** for tracking numbers on a special order the item will arrive long before anyone even talks to the manufacturer.

I ordered an XL Taurine frame last September, and - with a LOT of help from the regional C'dale sales manager, got the frame before x-mas... I was told it was the LAST XL frame available in the world at that point. If my son had insisted on the orange/white/black colors, he'd probably still be twiddling his thumbs waiting for a frame. A friend of mine ordered his frame last Oct, and I heard he just got it last week.
Sometimes it's the LBS & their credit situation, but, depending upon the frame, it could also be a supply problem - either with the frames (carbon frames are not made in the US) or scedules for the particualr color you want.
