goals for 2004?
Have you set any new goals for 2004?
I have a few, in March I'm doing the Ouachita Challenge 60 mile endurance race (MTB), that's not a goal in itself, but my goal is to finish in the top third. I also want to step up to Sport class from Clydesdale class. Long term goal is to ride Expert, hopefully in 2005. One more for '04. I want to ride the Roman Nose 24 hour race solo in Sept. I have been asked to race that one on a team, which would be cool, but I'd rather do it solo. Now I've written these down for all to see, so I'll be more obliged to come through. Any more big goals out there? |
i want to never buy a car. i want to commute to school every day by bike that is. last semester was a success, biked everyday.
i want to do a road race. |
Same goal as this year... weigh 145 by the end of 2004. I'm currently 155, down from 165 in january of this year. my biggest problem is i'm trying to lose weight without changing my diet. i've decided to completely cut soda out of my life, and also to curb my eating out (both for my weight and for my wallet).

Three goals for 2004
1. Ride a full brevet series (200k, 300k, 400k, 600k, 1200k) 2. Weigh 180 pounds by the end of the year (I am 235 now). 3. No golf. Not even once. I need to spend that money on other things. |

well since it looks like I won't hit this years goal of 2000 miles, since my bike is still being fixed... I've decided that I'm gonna go for 3000 miles next year... hopefully do my first Imperial Century or 3... and try and keep up with the fast group in my club... at least part of the way

3000 miles is a worthy goal. It's been a few years since I've done that many but the majority of my riding that last 3 or so years has been offroad. I plan to do more road miles myself in '04.

I want to win the lottery and I have set that as my main goal for 2004... :)
|
a few road races in states other than mine so if i lose i don't care, tri-state-trek boston to ny for Lou Gherigs (spelt Wrong) disease, and probably buy a engagement ring instead of a new bike, and some Biathalons ( i cant swim)

#1 goad is to go to PA and meet Kim... woman I have been talking to Every day for 5 months and see what happens. Plans are for Jan.....
#2 goal continue to lose weight and feel better and feel better about myself. When I started biking I was 265 just today for the first time after my ride im at 189lbs...... #3 goal to keep riding and then ride some more........ if it all works out riding in PA not in FL ...... I can hope :) take care all.... Jay..... |
My long range goal is to be riding as fast or faster at 40 as I did at 28-30 when I was racing. the 2005 season is the out of time year for this.
Objectives are: 20 mile TT on road bike in under 50 minutes. This year was a 55:34 but the route includes 6 intersections with stop signs so I have to find a better route. Metric century (62 miles) in less than 2:42. Did a 2:54 this year. I got lots of work to do here. I will be working on the short time trial mainly this 2004 season and slowly work on the distance. |
To log >4k miles. My goal for this year was 2k but I'm on pace to break 3k. Also I want to get down to 190 or less. It's only 20 pounds but I can't seem to drop any of it. I'm going to burn it off this year even if it takes hopping in a frying pan.

4,000 Miles is my goal this year as well. I hit my goal for 2003 with a total of 3152.6 miles (Goal was 3,000). There is to much snow and Ice out there for these old bones. I'm hidin' till the spring thaw. (Trainer in the basement)

lots of great goals listed here, very inspirational. My number one goal for spring 2004 is to complete an imperial century, I'll be jazzed to accomplish that. Secondary general goals, of course, ride faster, climb better, don't get dropped by the group, etc etc.

#1: Ride more miles. (~3500 so far this year)
#2: Continue to lose weight. #3: Get a job. (I hate age discrimination!! :fight: ) |

#2: Continue to lose weight. #3: Get a job. (I hate age discrimination!! :fight: ) I also hate age discrimination - it is pervasive, appearing in many places and at times folks don't even realize their mind-sets and prejudices. Also, I want to keep weight lifting. Would like to get to 250 pounds on the bench press (now at about 235 max 1 rep). |
My Goals for 2004:
Ride the Bicycle Tour of Colorado again - http://www.bicycletourcolo.com, a great, inexpensive tour. (Pictures from my '03 tour are at http://www.shastasoftware.com/BTC2003/BTC0017.htm) See the Tour de France in person, and ride l'Alpe d'Huez (I've got my reservation!). Get CycliStats reviewed in Bicycling magazine. |
The only goal I had for 2003 was completing a century in under 5 hrs. Did 3, 2 of which were right at 5 hrs. Rode a local mtn. century, nearly 11,000 ft. of climbing, in 6:38 (painful). 2004 I would like to ride it < 6 hrs. Rode 3,800 miles this year. Would like to set a goal for 2004 of 4,500.

Great pictures!! |
I just finished my student teaching, so finding a job is a big goal, preferably somewhere with mountains to ride in and cliffs to climb on.
I used to race Mtn. Bikes and just started road riding seriously last year after 6 years out of the racing scene so I'd like to try a couple of races, but I'd like to find a hard mountain century somewhere that I can enter and try to finish with a strong time, top 3rd or so. Any suggestions for an event? Find a charity to commit to. Complete the photographic work for a book idea I have that involves the world of cycling. More on that to come, I will hopefully find ways to utilize people from this forum. |

Check out: http://www.chattbike.com/stories/tombaker/soxgap.htm and http://radar.ngcsu.edu/~aroush/sixgapcentury.html The record this year was 5:04. As far as I know no one has broken the 5 hr. mark. It's a great ride with excellent support. They even have a place for people who travel from out of town to stay the weekend at the college. Let me know if you are interested. This year there were about 1,500 riders. Plan on attending. You won't be sorry. Plus, I would like to see someone break the 5hr time. |

I misspelled the previous link, sorry. |
Ride around Lake Tahoe.
Complete solo century around Folsom Lake. Avg. 23mph on bike leg of Tri For Real. Start racing crits. Hit 5000 total miles again. |
Goal for 2004:
1) Set goals. |
