About Giant FCR3 & TREK 7.2FX

Hello,

I want to purchase a touring bike for a long distant trip. I am now focusing on Giant FCR 3 & TREK 7.2FX. They are both excellent bikes. Can anyone help me to decide? Moreover, I have to install a rear rack, therefore I am wondering whether these two bikes can install one or not, which is very important for my trip. Thank you!!!

I have seen both bikes set up with racks so it's definitely possible. I just went through a similar comparison and found that it really only matters which bike feels best for you and fits properly. They are very similar. I ended up getting a Giant Tran Send DX instead of either of them!

Both are good bikes, both can take racks and fenders. Get the one that fits you best.

I have the FCR3 and put a seat post rack on it (because that's what I had). Great bike and works like a charm!

I've had a rack and fenders on my 7.2FX for years. It also has lowrider mounts on the fork for putting panniers on the front.

I have a rear rack on my FCR3. I am very happy with the bike. 3000 miles and I love it. I did replace the original seat with a Brooks B17. I understand this year's FCR3 comes with an improved seat. Also, the original plastic cage pedals only lasted 100 miles. Bike shop replaced them at no cost to me.
