GT Transeo 3.0 or Mongoose Crossway 450
Due to a work colleague, I have gained an interest in commuting to work. It is a short trip (1.5 miles) and after trying out several different types of bikes, a hybrid seemed to be the best choice. Among the hybrids I tried, two stood out to me: the GT Transeo 3.0 and the Mongoose Crossway 450. I enjoyed riding both and believe both will be in my price range $300-$450. (As I am returning to bicycling after a ten year hiatus, some extra money will need to be spent on accessories, i.e. helmet, lock, pump, etc).
Has anyone had any experience with these two models? If so do you have any information that might make my decision a little easier.
Thanks in advance!

Im planning on ordering a Transeo 2.0 myself. I know the same company owns both brands so if the pricing is similar quality maybe similar? What sways me is around me GT bikes are sold at the local bike shop so I can have thier help and the Mongoose's are sold at Kmart/Walmart. Since you have ridden both you probably already have a favorite.

I would opt for the GT, I have had a Transeo 4.0 and love it. I had to swap the tires out though. I ride 6 miles each way to and from school and I was constantly getting flats. So I got a set of 28c wide Specialized Armadillo Slicks, the REdwalls look great.
