Poor rich car owners...

The best part of this article is the comments where all you see are the residents of the effected area going on about ways to protect their precious motor vehicles like this is the worst thing that ever happened to them.

"Oven cleaner sprayed on vehicles ruins paint jobs"

I don't see the humor. Would you like it to happen to your "precious" bike? I bike but I also drive a Vette, if someone did this to my car you would be sure I will be waiting for him/her next time. Lets see now they have to make claims against their insurance which could cause their rates to go up, their car has to go into the shop to be repainted. If they don't have coverage they have to pay out of pocket, or live with the rust that will form where the paint was. I think they have more than a right to be pissed off.

Yeah real funny....

What's so funny about a very expensive piece of your property being targeted by malicious vandalism? Would you also find your bike being stolen, or you being the victim of a burglary just as hilarious?

I expect others to respect my property, and that begins with me respecting the property of others. The fact that it happens to be their car is immaterial.

no humor in that at all. That mazda in the picture isn't exactly a "rich" person's car, either. $3,000 for a repaint just isn't funny, I sure hope all those people had comprehensive coverage for it.

Maybe it is the worst that ever happened to them. Is it a crime to be fortunate?

Of course, that is irrelevant anyway, since a story of vandalism is going to talk about the damage, the efforts being taken to capture the vandals or to protect the property... If it talked about losing a son to leukemia (if it had happened) it might put it in perspective, but it would have little to do with the story.

You seem to be really happy this happened to them. These people are wealthy enough, the money to repair the damage is irrelevant. Being violated is the issue. It's the idea that a bunch of freaks think this is funny and are still getting away with it.

I pretty much hate cars. But, I don't agree with vandalism. It will probably get one of the vandals hurt. A property owner will wait around with a baseball bat and beat the tar out of the offender.

I don't know what this has to do with cycling and I'd not dump it on Living Car Free, P&R, or Foo. Thread closed.
