Race write-up - Ride The Lobster Unicycle Stage race

If you are offended by unicycles, or don't think we're serious athletes, then read no further...

I, along with my teammates Roland and Vince, comprising a team called "Personal Rollercoaster", competed in a first-of-its-kind unicycle race called the “Ride The Lobster” from June 16 through June 20, 2008. It was a relay race in five stages, running from one end of Nova Scotia to the other, a distance of over 500 miles. There were 35 teams from all over the world, including New Zealand, Singapore, Korea, all over Europe, and more. We hoped we could make it into the top 10.

This write-up is extremely long, because this event was a week-long epic. Please don’t worry if you don’t want to read it. You can go here: http://www.ridethelobster.com/race/rankings.php for the rankings to cut through all my storytelling. I promise I won’t take any offense.

For those of you with reading specs on, too much time to kill, here’s the whole enchilada:

    AWESOME.
I am not offended by unicycles, nor do I consider unicyclists anything but real athletes. I'd be swallowing my teeth within the first quarter mile on a uni!

Congrats, and way to be hardcore.

Been reading about that at Unicycling.org. I'm afraid I'd never get that far. I would like to have a 36" unicycle, but I'm pretty sure I'd be more the 10-mph type on it.

Yay for unicycles! I've been neglecting mine recently in favor of my bike. I have a Nimbus 29". I really should start using it for commuting the 3.2 miles to work more often...

I visit the unicyclist.com forum daily, same name as on here!

Interestingly enough, unicycling is actually what got me interested in bicycling.

I hope to compete in Ride the Lobster in the coming years, maybe if I get a geared 29"
    Boo!

I had to go back and check- yes, those are the same websites. Or at least, clicking on the forums on unicycling.org puts you into the forums at unicyclist.com.
