Prostate Inflammation

Members,

After riding a bicycle for a year, my prostate seems to have been so bothered that it is difficult to sit down. It was in fact difficult to sit on the saddle (I tried over 20 saddles with every tilt, angle, and height) but I rode through for the year hoping it would go away. At this point I can't sit on normal chairs or even ride a recumbent bicycle. I suffer from ED if I sit too long or pedal on any bicycle.

It feels like my prostate is enlarged and is pushing out my sensitive reproduction/erection tissues and putting them in harm's way (the site bones).

I am in my 20s. I am taking herbal medications (saw palmetto, pygeum) and have an appointment with the doctor soon.

I'm interested to know if anyone else has had prostate issues triggered by cycling and have healed from it, especially from a younger age.

If you haven't seen a physician about this, you really don't know exactly what your problem is and whether or not it is related to cycling. Don't miss your appointment.

I don't, but I met someone who was riding (climbing) on a bike with a funny looking seat.
I could not help to ask the reason, and the man talked about his problem which seems pretty similar to yours.
You may want to look at the seat, and do some research about it, it may help:

(Just to be clear: I'm not associated in any way with this outfit, and I don't use their product.)

Thanks for the seat suggestion but the problem is I can't sit on any seat, not even a couch, without feeling like I'm sitting on a golf ball.

I won't miss that appointment.

may want stop taking the herbals until after diagnosis??? You see a lot of information about how things are good for this and that but not so much about side affects plus if they are really effective they may skew some tests. would be interesting to note any changes without them.
Moonsaddle - another unique take on saddles.

+1. Drop the herbals until after you see the doc. I've seen too many cases where the herbals make things worse or cause problems with tests.

I’ve been riding all types of bikes with all types of seats/saddles for half of my life, and have never had what you are describing… Don’t miss your doctors appointment, even if the swelling seems to be getting better between now and then. Best of luck to you.

You may need some time off the bike to let things settle down. During that time, you'll need to start checking out various seats made to deal with this problem. I went through this in my mid 40's and tried several seats, settling on the Spiderflex. Not the mot comfortable seat in the world, but it solved the problem. Later on, wrist pain drove me to a recumbent. Now I have real comfort. bk
