Theres prescription stuff called Hemacort HC. You apply it very sparingly when things flare up. Far better than Prep H. In fact PrepH doesnt even work for me. Its saved me for many many years from having to get a operation. I buy a small tube about once a year on prescription. I personally when things get flared up put a tiny bit on and go to bed and alls good in morning till next time.

I used to have a lot of grief with constipation then I found the answer. Go every day now without fail.
OK, go to the supermarket and get sultanas, walnut kernels, green sunflower seeds and dried figs. Mix "em up in a resealable plastic container(except the figs).
Now ,every evening put some of this delicious mix on a small plate and add one fig.
It"s the most yummy way to get fibre I know.

As someone that has them for years...
With that in mind, I am a fair weather biker because it rains a lot during the winter where I live. The hemorrhoids tend to LESSEN when I'm not riding my bike during the winter. On the flip side they do get much much much worse when I'm riding often.
So that being said, YES bike seats DO make them worse, as for causing them? Everything I read says no..... but, I'm 99% sure riding a bike is a factor.
Everyone of any gender that rides a bike should be using a split saddle, one the is split down the whole middle. Ideal is one with a cut out as well.
Why any gender? Having pressure in the areas that the middle of the bike seat touches is a bad idea PERIOD! It can cause urinary issues for all genders, it can make hemorrhoids worse.
More reason for guys to use a split seat: non split seats put so much pressure on you that A) it makes it harder to get and keep an erection and B) there is a good chance that it will make you unable to ejaculate sperm... which would cause major issues if you are trying to have kids.
I finally just switched to a split seat a week or two again SUCH a world of difference in how I feel. Also, honestly; bigger is NOT necessarily better for bike saddles. My new one pretty much only touches me right where my "sit bones" are. This means that there is the padding from my glutes and then I'm resting on the bones. You need a saddle that fits your body. Most bike shops have a 30day return policy on saddles so you get a nice long time to test them out. The one I went to said that they have had people return like 4 saddles to find the one they like.
Also... you need to treat the cause of hemorrhoids like others have said: It is all about what you eat. Eat more fiber.. most americans don't eat anywhere near enough. I've done the supplements before and they are just more of a chore then I really want. Someone else said that they eat prunes... (which is a common thing for fiber).
I ask: Why just prunes when there is a lot of other dried fruit out there that is good for you.. IF it doesn't have any sugar etc added. (VERY VERY important). I just bought about 4 pounds of dried fruit (figs, dates, mango, prunes), cut up the mango, mixed them all together in a big bowl and put them in a big jar..... then pull out some when I want a snack.
It's totally healthy and soo tasty.
AND, eat more veggies. This one is hard for me 'cause I don't like carrying around veggies or really eating a lot of them raw.... But, there are veggie chips out there and green/veggie powder drink mixes that have fiber. (Just make sure you get chips without oil if possible).
Ooooh and always: Start SLOWLY when you're increasing your fiber intake. To much at once can cause diarrhea or constipation which both can cause or make hemorrhoids worse. Then on top of that, ramping up your fiber intake to fast will also cause major gas... and I mean major. I have been going crazy on dried mango the last week and well....... I bet it added .0002 mph to my speed on my bike yesterday.

You can make your own topical relief ointment at home. Squirt some witch hazel and phenylephrine nose spray on soft, absorbent toilet tissue and apply moderate pressure for up to 60 seconds. Follow up with a dab of zinc oxide cream, again applying moderate pressure with soft toilet tissue. Helps.
I haven't noticed any aggravation from bike riding. If anything it's more comfortable than walking during flareups. Might depend on the saddle. Mine is just an ordinary padded comfort hybrid saddle, nothing special.

Metamucil, Activia yogurt, Raisin Bran, Salad, Green smoothies all do good for me.
I don't think riding has anything negative to do with it, and probably helps

after getting my 1st colonoscopy and researching the topic I have incorporated a daily lettuce wedge and handful of baby carrots between lunch and dinner. I also take a small daily dose of magnesium (among others). I believe this has all helped me stay regular and without straining

re: bottom issues in general, for a long time I've been a big fan of hot soaks in Epsom salt baths. 20 minute minimum with a generous amount of epsom, 2 cups minimum. add your favorite bath soap. I like Dr Teals eucalyptus menthol myself. add a 1/2 glass of red wine (not to the bath) after every ride and see if it makes you happy too
