Santa's sleigh= how about a touring bike.

Just have to vent. Today, I did all the Santa stuff on my touring bike.. Wore my red jersey and helmet. All Santa's packages were able to fit in my two large panniers. Because I had the mobility of the bike, took some of my packages to a post office 5 miles from my town. That post office resulted in time savings, since its' line are always a fraction of my home town's. Only two people in front of me. Christmas shopping caused me to put 56 miles on my bike. Feel great. Even Christmasy.
Also, I zipped through the strip-malls, non-stop to the backed up traffic. Made me feel just great. Could tell all the shoppers were irritated with shopping mall traffic. Not me. Well, must admit all my wife's gifts were smaller and more personable. But, I still pretty much filled my panniers .
Lots of Christmas shoppers come home annoyed. Not me, one of my favorite christmas excursions ever.

Last year I had to haul most of my christmas presents to Brisbane (where I have family) in my panniers. I took the alternative route via Mt Tamborine and got one hell of a ride out of it. The only problem was that the weather chose that particular day to be the hottest one of the entire summer (by some distance).

Last year, I did most of my shopping by bike, but the microwave oven just wouldn't fit on my Blackburn rack!
